However, it is still a great time to go for those May scholarships for college despite your busy schedule. There are scholarship opportunities to be had with scholarship deadlines in May to help fund your college costs.

Here are 15 possible sources of scholarship money with deadlines in the month of May for incoming college or university students. Apply to as many in this list of scholarships as you are eligible for and get as much financial student aid as you can!

Award Amount: From $250 up to $10,000

The Center for Inquiry is pleased to announce the #ScienceSaves High School Video Scholarship for College-Bound High School Seniors! All our lives have been improved by the discoveries of science. Describe an experience in your life that demonstrates that science does indeed save. The experience can be something that happened to you or someone you know. Create a 20-30 second video answering the question “What has science done for me?” or “What has science done for somebody I know?” You will be judged on your ability to highlight how science saves in a succinct, creative way with original photos, video clips, and text. (Be sure to add #sciencesaves to your video). 1st place wins $10,000, 2nd place wins $2,000, 3rd place wins $1,000, 4th place wins $500 while 6 honorable mentions win $250 each. Eligibility is for all United States high school seniors entering college in the Fall of 2022.

Deadline: May 8, 2022

Award Amount: $7,500

The SEE Education Foundation will be awarding scholarships to students pursuing degrees related to the explosives industry. To be eligible, students must be, or plan to be, pursuing a technical, undergraduate, graduate or doctorate degree in a field related to the commercial explosives industries. Students will be assessed on academic and professional achievements, industry goals, a personal challenges narrative and a brief statement of financial need.

Deadline: May 10, 2022

Award Amount: $5,000 to $7,500 per year (renewable up to 3 years or until a bachelor's degree is earned)

The PENTA Building Group has established a scholarship program to assist high school seniors or undergraduates who plan to continue their education in college at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas or an accredited four-year college or university in southern California.

Applicants to The PENTA Building Group Scholarship Program must be:

  • Be current high school seniors or undergraduate freshman (less than 24 undergraduate credits earned).
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at Arizona State University (ASU), University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) or an accredited four-year college or university in southern California for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Plan to major in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
  • Have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent

Deadline: May 15, 2022

Award Amount: $10,000

The UMPS CARE Charities All-Star College Scholarship is for children adopted later in life in order to provide a college education to students who otherwise might not be able to afford one.

The All-Star Scholarship is open to children adopted at or after the age of 13 to provide increased opportunities for advanced education. Each year, one student will be selected to receive the scholarship. This student will be eligible to receive up to $10,000 annually to go towards tuition, books, and other college related expenses. Students must fill out the application, submit a high school transcript, FAFSA report, three letters of recommendation and four short essay questions.

Applicants must have been adopted or exited foster care to permanent guardianship at or after the age of thirteen (13) and demonstrate financial need through the FAFSA Application.Applicants must also be incoming college freshmen under the age of twenty, and have a 2.5 GPA (and maintain a 2.5 GPA for renewal).

Award Amount: $10,000

Through the generous sponsorship of AlerisLife Inc. and AARP, the MIT AgeLab organizes OMEGA, an initiative designed to foster multigenerational connections between high school students and older adults. The goal of OMEGA is to strengthen relationships and promote connections across generations.

Applicants must be current high school juniors or seniors in the U.S. taking part in programs within a school, nonprofit, senior center, or nursing/assisted living community that connect teens with older adults, who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Two of the scholarships will be designated specifically for high school juniors and seniors who have engaged in intergenerational programming in Five Star Senior Living communities.

Award Amount: $10,000

The Catherine W. Pierce scholarship was established to support students who are majoring in disciplines within the Arts. Mrs. Pierce had a great interest in helping deserving students pursue the fields of Art or Art History (excluding performing Arts) for American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian/Pacific Islander, Black or Hispanic students.

Eligible applicants must: be a high school senior or undergraduate, enrolled full-time at a US college or university; be pursuing a degree in an Art or Art History discipline; be a legal US resident; and, have a 2.5 GPA.

Deadline: May 19, 2022

Award Amount: $1,000

The Dream Big scholarship is awarded annually to a high-school senior that has been accepted into a college or trade school. The purpose of this scholarship is to offset college or trade school expenses when preparing for attendance. Applications are reviewed by a selection committee.

Award Amount: $5,625

The AAPD NBCUniversal Tony Coelho Media Scholarship will offer eight scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students with disabilities who are interested in pursuing a career in the communications, media, or entertainment industry. Each recipient will receive $5,625 to help cover the cost of education at their current college or university.

Applicants for the 2022 NBCUniversal Tony Coelho Media Scholarship must:

  • Be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at and plan to be enrolled during the fall 2022 semester, or (2) a current high school senior and plan to enroll at a college or university during the fall 2022 semester.
  • Self-identify as a person with any type of disability.
  • Be interested in pursuing a career in communications, media, or entertainment (all majors are welcome to apply, including computer science, engineering, information technology, statistics, etc).
  • Currently attending a college or university in the United States, or plan to attend a college or university in the United States during the fall 2022 semester. You do NOT need to be a U.S. citizen in order to qualify.

Award Amount: $5,000

EQuity is a Black-owned, learning and development venture working to advance racial justice by developing emotional intelligence. To amplify our work at the intersection of emotional intelligence and racial justice, we are launching a scholarship essay competition. This fall we will be awarding a $5,000 scholarship to the winner. Any degree-seeking student is eligible to apply. Complete an interest form in order to receive all information about the scholarship moving forward.

Deadline: May 25, 2022

Award Amount: $750 per semester for 8 consecutive semesters. Maximum award of $6,000

This scholarship was established by Solvay/Eco Services, formally known as Rhodia, and the Domingue Family to honor Karen E. Domingue-Maillet’s life and work.

  • Must be graduating from one of the following East Baton Rouge Parish high schools: Baker, Glen Oaks, Istrouma, Mentorship STEAM Academy, Scotlandville, or Southern Lab.
  • Must be enrolling full-time into an accredited university or college.
  • Must rank in upper 50% of senior class.
  • Must demonstrate a need for financial assistance.
  • East Baton Rouge Parish resident.
  • U.S. citizen. 

Deadline: May 27, 2022.

Award Amount: $500 up to $5,000.

ReWritten exists to provide guidance and support to fatherless and underserved youth. We believe that no young person should have to grow-up without a father and carry the burden of his absence alone.

Minimum Qualifications for Scholarship Consideration:

  • Must be a citizen of the U.S. or a lawful permanent resident.
  • Submit a thoroughly completed application.
  • Participation in free mentoring e-workshops (to be made available to finalists only). *Note: Additional workshop information will be sent to applicants that become finalists.
  • A plan to attend an approved college, trade school, or apprenticeship program.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • A high school senior or recent high school graduate (within 3 years) and enrolled in a higher education/career institution.
  • A signed affirmation of ReWritten's Faith Statement -Demonstrated service in their local church community and/or a local non-profit or charity.

Deadline: May 27, 2022.

Award Amount: $2,000

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit is seeking submissions for its 2022 essay contest. Students are invited to consider and share their thoughts on the question: "Is the Fourteenth Amendment's Equal Protection Clause sufficient to secure the rights of all citizens, or is the ERA necessary to promote gender equality?

Students have the opportunity to win one of three cash prizes: first place, $2,000; second place, $1,500; and third place, $1,000. Essays are limited to 1,000 words and must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, May 27th.

The contest is open to all students currently in grades 9 through 12 from Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Award Amount: $2,000

The Flag Manufacturers Association of America (FMAA) offers this scholarship to help eligible applicants attain their educational goals. This is a one-time award and is not renewable. The FMAA Manufacturer Members have a genuine interest in hearing the meaning the American flag holds for America's youth. The FMAA Scholarship Program gives students an opportunity to express their feelings regarding the flag and their own views on patriotism, as well as raising awareness of the "Made in the USA" issue. A video of 90 to 120 seconds in length is required as part of the application process.

Eligible applicants must be enrolled in a college or vocational school (high school senior or older).

Deadline: May 30, 2022.

Award Amount: $220

The fellowship is designed to support high school students who are interested in entrepreneurship and public service. The scholarship winner will also be assigned a mentor from an Ivy League Institution who will help them with their college applications, academic progress, career development, and provide them with general college and career guidance and a curriculum which provides them with fundamental business and professional principles such as how to effectively interview, properly network, create resumes, write cover letters, and succeed in the professional world.

To be eligible for The Bayar Fellowship, you must be a high school student who is interested in utilizing business principles to improve your community.

Deadline: May 31, 2022.

Award Amount: Up to $10,000 ($2,500 per year up to 4 years)

The AISES Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Foundation Scholarship is made available to American Indian high school seniors with a 3.0 GPA or higher who reside in one of the 23 states serviced by the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Pacific Corporation and its affiliated companies.

Applicants must be: an enrolled citizen or a descendant of an enrolled citizen of a federal or state recognized American Indian Tribe or Alaska Native Village; or Native Hawaiian or descendant from a Native Hawaiian; or Pacific Islander or descendant from Pacific Islander; or Indigenous person of Canada. Those awarded must maintain a 2.75 GPA their freshman and sophomore years and a 3.0 GPA their junior and senior years to receive scholarships for all four years.
