With being busy throughout the year in both school activities and the college admissions process, it is understandable to look forward to December for a chance to relax during winter break, especially if you are a high school senior student.

However, it is also wise not to lift your foot off the gas in your search for scholarships during December, as there are still a lot of scholarships to be obtained, giving you more options and opportunities to have free college money and avoid any dreaded college loans.

List of 25 Scholarships with December Deadlines

To maximize your chances of being a scholarship winner, it is recommended that you apply to at least 2 to 3 scholarships per week. Here are 25 college bound scholarships for students with December deadlines, along with their deadline dates and award amounts.

5 Strong Scholarship

Award Amount:  $40,000

Deadline: December 1, 2021

Applicants must be a legal resident of the Metro Atlanta Area and must be open to attending a Historically Black American University or College. Applicants must be a graduating high school senior that's a promising student leader with a 2.8 GPA minimum and ACT: 19 / SAT: 980 (verbal and math only) scores. Lastly, applicants must be willing to attend all bi-monthly 5 Strong College Prep sessions.  

Act Six Indianapolis Scholarship

Award Amount:  $184,000

Deadline: December 1, 2021

Applicants must live in or around the greater Indianapolis area and be upcoming or recent high school graduates. May provide a potential full-ride scholarship that sends qualified Indianapolis-area students to Taylor University and Oakland City University.

Boston University Presidential Scholarship

Award Amount:  $100,000 ($25,000 per year renewable up to 4 years)

Deadline: December 1, 2021

The Boston University Presidential Scholarship is given to first-year students from around the globe who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement. Applicants must also demonstrate excellence beyond the classroom and are leaders in their schools and communities. This $25,000 tuition scholarship is renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study.

University of Kentucky Bluegrass Spirit Awards

Award Amount:  $50,000

Deadline: December 1, 2021

The University of Kentucky offers the Bluegrass Spirit Awards, where applicants should have at least a 3.0 GPA, and a score or either ACT: 25 or SAT: 1200. The applicant must also be a nonresident of Kentucky.

National Space Club Keynote Scholarships

Award Amount:  $10,000

Deadline: December 2, 2021

The scholarship is open for high school seniors all the way to graduate students. The applicant must be citizens of the United States.  The applicant must attend an accredited college or university in the United States to follow a course of study to pursue a career in the STEM field, with a preference for those with space-related interests.  

The scholarship winner will be given the opportunity to deliver the keynote address at the National Space Club and Foundation's annual Goddard Memorial Dinner, one of the space industry's most prestigious gatherings. In addition to this, the individual selected will also receive a scholarship, in the amount of $10,000. The applicant must not have previously spoken at the Dr. Robert H. Goddard Memorial Dinner.

Laura Kaeppeler Kenosha Scholarship

Award Amount:  $125,000

Deadline: December 3, 2021

This scholarship, worth more than $125,000, is a competition open to students in the city of Kenosha and is available for freshmen entering Carthage College. The following should be completed no later than December:

Applicants must submit an application for admission to Carthage and supporting materials, including high school transcripts; the Kenosha Scholarship Application which is available in October; a 250-word essay with the topic: Evaluate how a significant experience or achievement in your life has helped shape who you are today, and a list of all high school and community organizations and activities in which you have participated. Qualified applicants will be notified in late December. The scholarship competition takes place on-campus in January, where prospective Kenosha Scholars will complete an essay and have a conversation with Carthage College faculty and staff.

Stephen J. Brady Stop Hunger Scholarships

Award Amount:  $5,000

Deadline: December 5, 2021

Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited institution in the United States, be younger than 25, and demonstrate an ongoing commitment to community service and youth-led innovation and solutions towards ending hunger in their community. 

Wells Fargo Scholarship Program for People with Disabilities

Award Amount:  $2,500

Deadline: December 6, 2021

Applicants must have an identified disability (defined as someone who has, or considers themselves to have, a long-term or recurring issue that impacts one or more major life activity), be a high school senior or graduate planning to enroll, or who are already enrolled, for a full or half-time undergraduate degree at an accredited two or four-year college or university in the United States, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

The National Honor Society Scholarship

Award Amount:  $25,000

Deadline: December 7, 2021

Applicants must be senior high school students who are National Honor Society (NHS) members in good standing of an affiliated NHS chapter.

AbbVie Immunology Scholarship

Award Amount:  $15,000

Deadline: December 7, 2021

Designed to provide financial support for exceptional students living with chronic inflammatory diseases. Applicants must be legal residents of the U.S. and diagnosed by a healthcare professional with one of the following: ankylosing spondylitis (AS), Crohn’s disease (CD), hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), psoriasis (Ps), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), ulcerative colitis (UC), or uveitis (UV). Qualified applicants must plan to enroll in undergraduate (associate's, bachelor's) or graduate (master's, MD, JD, doctorate) study at an accredited two or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school in the U.S.

Lyceum Scholars Program

Award Amount:  $15,000

Deadline: December 7, 2021

Applicants must be incoming Clemson freshmen and must apply to both Clemson University and the Lyceum Scholars Program. The program is open to students of any major, but students who complete this course of study fulfill the requirements for a minor in political science. Scholars must maintain a 3.4 GPA.

NJCPA High School Scholarship

Award Amount:  $1,500

Deadline: December 11, 2021

Applicants must be college-bound New Jersey high school seniors intending to major in accounting or obtain a concentration in accounting which includes not less than 24 accounting credits. Scholarships are awarded based on academic performance, essay, and personal interview.

Burger King Scholars Program

Award Amount:  $4,000

Deadline: December 15, 2021

Applicants must be living in the United States, Canada or Puerto Rico, are graduating high school seniors and plan to enroll full-time, without interruption, for an entire academic year at an accredited two or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school in the U.S., Canada or Puerto Rico. The student must have a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent.

UM Morris Scholars

Award Amount:  $24,000

Deadline: December 15, 2021

Morris Scholars receive a $24,000 scholarship package, disbursed evenly over four years, plus a one-time $2,500 scholarship stipend. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or permanent residents, and submit their application to UM Morris along with all requirements by December 15th.

Arkansas Chamber Singers Music/Vocal Scholarship

Award Amount:  $1,000

Deadline: December 16, 2021

Applicants must have a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 and must major in music with an emphasis in choral or vocal performance at an accredited four-year institution of higher education. The student applicant must also be enrolled in the choral music program (curriculum) at the high school in which he or she attends.

GeneTex Scholarship Program

Award Amount:  $2,000

Deadline: December 17, 2021

The GeneTex Scholarship Program awards a $2000 (USD) scholarship to students pursuing a STEM undergraduate or graduate degree. Applicants that are current college students or graduate students are required to submit their most recent official school transcript and show that they are in good academic standing. For incoming university students or transfer students, please provide a letter of acceptance or some equivalent form of documentation to show that you will be attending that university.

Marie Curie Scholarship

Award Amount:  $80,000 for four years

Deadline: December 17, 2021

Applicants must be young women who want to major in Biology, Chemistry, or Mathematics. Applicants can receive up to $20,000 annually towards their College of Saint Mary education each year while living on campus and continuing to meet program requirements.

EMU Presidential Scholarship

Award Amount:  Up to $100,000 for four years

Deadline: December 18, 2021

Applicants must be officially admitted to Eastern Michigan University (EMU) as a traditional incoming Freshman for the fall of the year the award is granted, have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA and 25 composite ACT or 1200 SAT, and attend an on-campus or virtual visit on or before January 1st of the year the award is granted.

California Hispanic Education Endowment Fund (HEEF)

Award Amount:  $2,500

Deadline: December 31, 2021

Applicants must be citizens of the United States or permanent residents or Dream Act/ AB 540 students who live in Orange County (OC), California. Applicants must also be OC high school and community college students or transfers who qualify for need-based financial aid and will enroll at a 4-year college or university.

Colorado Mesa University's Distinguished Scholar Award

Award Amount:  $24,000 or $6,000 per year for four years.

Deadline: December 31, 2021

Awards full tuition and fees for Colorado residents and up to $6,000 per year (up to four years) for out-of-state residents. Applicants must satisfy two of the three following criteria: 3.75 GPA, top 5% of graduating class, or a 29 ACT/1340 combined SAT. The scholarship can be renewed for a maximum of 120 credit hours as long as the student maintains a 3.5 cumulative GPA and full-time status (12 credit hours/semester) at Colorado Mesa University (CMU).

Next Generation Teacher Scholarship

Award Amount:  $30,000 or $7,500 per year for four years.

Deadline: December 31, 2021

The State of Indiana will provide 200 scholarships each year to high-achieving high school and college students interested in pursuing a career in education. The scholarship pays $7,500 per year for up to four years to students who commit to teaching in Indiana after graduation.

Our First Amendment Freedoms Art & Essay Contest

Award Amount:  Up to $5,000

Deadline: December 31, 2021

Applicants must be students in grades 6 to 12 in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. First Place winners in each grade category will receive a $5,000 scholarship. Second Place winners will receive a $1,000 scholarship. Applicants must create art or write an essay that portrays how one of the five freedoms in the First Amendment affects their daily life.

Reading Community Singers Scholarship

Award Amount:  Up to $5,000

Deadline: $30,000 or $7,500 per year.

Applicants must be graduating high school senior or full-time undergraduate student pursuing a major or minor in music and who resides in Reading, MA, or the surrounding area.

Shamrck Inaugural Clover Scholarship

Award Amount:  December 31, 2021

Deadline: Up to $10,000.

Applicants must be a high school student residing in the following Florida counties: Hillsborough, Pinellas, Marion, Orange, Manatee. Entry is free of charge, and all participants have the opportunity to win the following five prizes: $10,000 for the overall winner, followed by two awards of $1,000, and two awards of $500, for the runners-up. Applicants must register on Shamrck and take a career assessment. Then create a short video detailing your results and what you would do with the money.

Underwood-Smith Teaching Scholars Program

Award Amount:  December 31, 2021

Deadline: $10,000 per year up to four years.

Applicants must be senior high school students or recent high school graduates with plans to pursue a bachelor's degree in an approved teacher preparation program in math, science, elementary education or special education at an eligible West Virginia institution, have a minimum of 3.25 GPA, be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen, and be willing to attend an award banquet in Morgantown, WV. Scholarship winners must agree to teach in a West Virginia public school in an area of critical need (math, science, elementary education or special education) for a period of five years after graduating from college.
